Nate Ruess, the fabulous lead singer of (the now defunct) The Format has joined up with Andrew Dost and Jack Antonoff to start a new band -- fun. They have a demo up on their myspace page. Their debut album will be out in February.

The Format is defunct?!!!? I only just got into them around January when a guy from Scottsdale lent me Interventions & Lullabies, and I subsequently uploaded it and immediately bought Dog Problems as well.
Emoticons cannot express my sadness upon reading this news, but I am glad to hear that I'll at least be able to hear Nate's voice set to music again.
Also: any girl who listens to "On Your Porch" and doesn't want to cry or kiss a guy is not in fact a girl

Yeah, I was super sad when I got the email that Nate and Sam were breaking up The Format. I've loved them since my early college years. They opened up a show for Ozma before their first CD came out and they stole the show. They were amazing live. Then, a couple months later the radio station I worked at got an advance copy of "The First Single" and it instantly became my favorite song. Interventions and Lullabies is my prefered Format album, but Dog Problems is decent too. I'm hoping that Nate and Sam will eventually restart the band after they do some of these other projects.
