I'll get us started:

Can there be no happiness in 90210 land? Kelly and Dylan have a (3-year-old?) son, but aren't together and live in separate states. Donna and David are married and have a small baby...but they are separated. I'm almost afraid for them to bring back any other old characters. What could be next? Steve Sanders in jail for insider trading? Andrea Zuckerman gets literary prize revoked after plagiarism charges?

BATMAN

On the 90210 tip, while out here in LA for a spell I visited with a friend whose got an infant in a kiddie music class that also includes the babies of Minnie Driver and that actress whose name I can't remember who played the Asian girl that worked at the Beat and eventually married Steve Sanders. Yes, one of 90210's least interesting characters but it's still got me wondering if the baby is Steve's.
:-)

What am I listening to -- I'm in a superglam superfunk listening to old T.Rex. YeahRighters will hear more about this shortly.

LarryK

I've also been listening to some old school stuff - The Modern Lovers first album and a greatest hits collection from Townes Van Zandt (Rear View Mirror) - as well as my latest free CD from Paste. Not one of their best, but worth it just because of the tune from Jason Isbell and songs by two people I'd never heard of before (Asobi Seksu - kind of a Japanese Debbie Harry - and Jamey Johnson).

My musical frustration for the week started on Sunday, when I was listening to the local jazz station. One of my favorite Sunday afternoon shows is called “Origins- an Orgy of Rhythm,” which features music from the Black diaspora- lots of African music, some reggae, a little salsa, and other odd jazz features. The DJ put on an amazing cut, and at the end told us that it was avant guard drummer Beaver Harris, off of his album “From Ragtime to No Time.” The way the DJ talked about the album, it sounded like it was a must-have. Apparently the DJ is a little more enthusiastic than the rest of the world. The Amazon.com price for the import (the only edition available) is $42.98. The record is nowhere to be found on iTunes or anywhere else on the net that I know of. If anyone knows where I can find this album for less than $20.00 or so (and preferably be listening to it within fifteen minutes of paying for it), please let me know.
On the good side, though, this search has revealed to me that iTunes has a descent selection of Mingus, Sun Ra (a strange pleasure of mine), and Albert Ayler. While I get a little ego trip out of buying strange jazz albums at the CD store, it will be a little more convenient this way. And it got be back into the Di.fm modern jazz station on iTunes radio, which I highly recommend.

I doubt that anyone around here needs to know what I'm watching/reading/listening to, but what the heck, I'll tell you anyway in order to lay claim to being the most eccentric person in the neighborhood:

TV: 24, the Idol, Fringe, Hell's Kitchen, Lost, NHL play-offs, NFL Network and the old HBO prison drama Oz (via Netflix).

Music: I'm writing a lot these days, and when I do that, I need music connected to what I'm writing about to keep it going, thus, medieval to reformation era German music. Seriously.

Reading: Just finished Carl Sagan's 'Contact,' just started Robert Heinlein's 'The Moon Is A Harsh Mistress.' I'm on a classic science fiction kick of late for some reason.

Other: Trying to figure out how to play the dang drums in Rock Band 2, trying to figure out how to win the Denver Broncos the 2017 Super Bowl in EA Sports' NFL Head Coach, and trying to figure out the best tactics to win my next online virtual yacht race.

No,I'm not kidding about the online yacht racing.

I think this is the part where you all pick up your cafeteria trays and move a few tables away.
