That kind of jives with the discussion of the Beatles in Malcolm Gladwell's Outliers. He discusses how exceptional talents often have had exceptionally odd circumstances to practice. Bill Gates happened to have access to computer workshops like few others before him. The Beatles, argues Gladwell, became THE BEATLES as a virtue of having to play together, 8 hours a night, every night, during their visits to Hamburg. (Or some crazy amount of show time like that.) Kind of interesting.
