In honor of the 2010 Pavement reunion, I'm going with my favorite Pavement tune, "Stereo," as the Song of the Week (and hopefully that selection doesn't horrify Batman, who is a bigger Pavement fan than me). How can you not love a video that has Cheerios, a talking squirrel, AND a moving fake forest?

May not be Batman-approved, but I like it.

I totally approve of the song on its own merits. But the topic of whether "Stereo" is a nice song or not is quite separate from what made Pavement so special in 1991-94. As I've mentioned before (http://www.yeahrightblog.com/yeah_right/2008/03/how-has-pavemen.html) I think my Pavement love of those days was perhaps misplaced, or at least made sense during that fleeting moment, but isn't explicable today. I still here something special in the skronk of "She Believes" that I don't really expect anyone else to hear, so YR readers are much advised to listen to AK recommendations on Pavement than mine....
