This is so cool. I've been a fan of the music blog Aquarium Drunkard, not knowing that said drunkard and I overlapped in Atlanta for a period in the mid-90s. And now he's posting on some of the bands that inhabited that town at the time -- none as interesting as the subject of his latest post. It's about Smoke -- weird southern gothic, beat-poetry inspired folk rock or something like that. Turns out that a documentary was made of the memorable frontman of this obscure Atlanta band before his death. This clip conveys the kind of ramshackle beauty of the best of Smoke.
